We need your help to clean up this town

Keep Wales Tidy are having the Great Taff Tidy clean up, from 3rd September to 5th September 2010 people from all walks of life are helping to clean up the river Taff, on the 3rd the plan is to take open canoes up from Black Weir bridge with a mystery guest to start the clean up, now you would have seen this person on TV and they [ notice i did not give a gender ] play a big part in your life although you may not know it. Then on the 4th and 5th we need volunteers to give just a couple of hours on any day to suit yourselfs to help collect litter from the Taff, preferably people with boats and good water skills. Any help is wellcome even if you don't have a boat. Send me an e-mail with your name and what day you can help out, cheers.
Sponsorship Money

We have received the first of this year’s sponsorship money £10,000.00, Xmas has come early,Our Sports Match grant does not end until August so we won’t be able to apply for another one until then but I would like suggestions from the members on what to spend the money on next so suggestions on an e-mail please, the committee will then decide what to do, we have just bought 2 prospector 15 open canoes plus kit, 1 OC1 white water spec open canoe, 2 racing boats and a Bull raft plus kit.
Canoe & Kayak Magazine Have Come to Town

When will I be famous?
On 10th March 2010, Canoe & Kayak magazine were at our pool session to interview club members for an article in their magazine, if your into paddle sports how cool is that?
We should be able to happly boast about the advancments we have made as a club in the last 12 months, the kit, the training and most importantly about you - the club members.
Pick up a copy of May's additon of Canoe & Kayak magazine, we are on pages 52 to 55, also in this issue is a good artical on the new white water centre at the bay.
Members Courses / Achievements

Level one Coach training and assessment, 10 of our members have been on a level one coaching course paid for by the club.
Well done every one, it was a very good course held by Paul of Inspire 2 adventure [ www.inspire2adventure.com ] and Richard of Adventure Cardiff [ www.adventurecardiff.com ]
Thank you both, we will we will definitely be back for more.
We should be able to provide more free courses if we keep the money coming in.
12 of our members have successfully attended a White Water Safety & Rescue course paid for by the club, It was a very good course which was presented very well by Matt Blue & Ash St Claire, thank you both, we will definitely be back for more.
We have applied for and won a Sports Match Grant of £4,364.00, added to this we have raised £6,000.00 of sponsorship.
We have bought lots of new boats, paddles, helmets, cags and BA's, we have also paid for 1st aid traning for 15 members, WWSR course for 12 members and Level one coaching course for 10 members.
We have applied for and won a community chest grant of £1,000.00
10 of our members and have attended a child protection course paid for by the club and will be C.R.B. checked, we have undertaken this to show we take our responsibilities to children seriously, should you require further information or a copy of our certificates please e-mail me – Nik Mason.
 

We would like to encourage more people to enjoy our water and our country side, we want anyone to be able to choose to explore places they have not seen, to tell others of their experiences so that they can see what we see.

Beginners: 7pm - 8pm
Advanced: 8pm - 9pm

Wednesday - Adults
Advanced: 8pm - 9.30pm
Beginner/intermediate: 8.45pm - 9.30pm

Entry fee £2.50 - Coaching free



How We Do It

We practice in a pool, then we try it out on water. White water, still water, sea water, not distilled water yet.
